Photograph taken Saturday 3rd May 1930 showing the queues for ‘Garbo’ talks, in the film “Anna Christie” Garbo became the greatest box-office draw at the Empire during the 1930’s. Also can you pick out the newspaper seller, barrow boy and man with tray serving the waiting patrons. The large Stagg & Mantle department store visible behind the queue has now had its final makeover this time in the Art Deco style and name change to “Staggs” a few year later in 1936 this once prestige’s store finally sold its entire site.
