Rialto Cinema Crystal Palace
The Holophane advert above was one of many produced by this top of the range contractors who supplied exciting and innovative lighting effects throughout the golden years of film presentation and in some cases more entertaining than the current main film patrons paid to watch. As the 1930’s progressed so did Holophane. Cinema Architect T.P. Bennett remarked that decorative cinema interior specialists Mollo and Egan participated in the system’s complex development, sadly most of these have been lost, however, the Apollo Theatre Airdwick still survives being one of the last to install an auditorium created by the above lighting and design specialists working in tandem.
