Regal Cinema Wymondham
Douglas Bostock purchased a field in Wymondham during 1935 and engaged Architect J.Owen Bond to build the new Regal cinema, constructed by Thomas Gill & Son. Building work commenced in January 1937 and the Regal held 503 seats. Opening film was “Swing Time” starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers launched the Regal at 7.30.pm on 18th March, with invited guests. The Regal closed in June 1962 and stood empty for over two years until it was sold and reopened with “A Hard Days Night”. The Regal finally closed for good on 29th June, 1993 and was sold to Wymondham Ex-Servicemen’s club.
