Towers Hornchurch
Details of the entrance foyer with pay box and decorative lighting spheres suspended from the coffered ceiling, these were manufactured by F H Pride. Kemp told me that it was quite a close knit community of cinema contractors he had used Clark & Fenn for interior work and Templeton for interior carpet and Pride for lighting. They all met up quite regularly at many film event dinners. He always referred to the owner of Prides as Peggy Pride, apparently during the first war Pride was injured and had to have a false leg which made him limp, giving the name Pegleg Pride. Kemp said it was all fun in those days and Prides made a fortune during the 1930’s but they worked hard to get it!!!
