If you went to the Garde Theater on March 11, 1976, to see the film Snuff, you didn’t see the controversial ending where a woman reportedly got killed on camera – the local projectionist union refused to screen the scene and snipped it from the final film reel! Out front, protesters handed out flyers complaining about the theater’s willingness to screen the film, which New London city officials viewed and deemed “worthless.” The March 12 screening was cancelled by Garde manager Gail Belyea, and Snuff (a lousy film, tho it didn’t really depict someone getting killed) never screened in Connecticut again –
