Chakeres bought Franklin Square in 1974. Originally, it was equipped with two reel-to-reel projectors for each auditorium. In 1977, a single four-deck platter was installed and two of the projectors were relocated to the new Brighton Park Cinemas on the east side of town.

The address of the Capitol was actually 213 West Main Street. At one time the building was owned by the city of Frankfort. During the early years, City Hall was located on the second floor of the theatre. Built as an opra house, the theatre had a fly loft and large stage. Dressing rooms were located below the stage.

Brighton Park Twin Cinemas opened in November, 1977. “Oh God” played in Cinema One. “You Light Up My Life” played in Cinema Two.
