Found this site doing a web search on the 25th Street Theater. I grew up going to that theater in the 60s and 70s. My grandmother owned a flower shop a couple doors down. I remember the owner at the time, Buster Scott, was a real nice old guy. The last time I went to a movie there was in the early 80s – it was the John Waters movie ‘Polyester’ with the scratch n sniff ‘odor-rama’ cards. It was the last showing on a weeknight and I was the ONLY patron, and they ran it just for me. I had moved from Waco by the time the theater was in its night club phase, but I can imagine how cool it must have been with the deco decor and cool wall murals.
A couple of weeks ago I was in Waco and driving down 25th street, and it looks like the other buildings connected to it are mostly demolished and the neighborhood in general is looking worse than ever.
