Thanks for posting those ads. Interesting period for the drive-in theatre as you can see from that list that some were showing low budget ‘B’ movies while others were offering first-run, mainstream fare.

The screen was still up for a long time afterwards, but finally torn down maybe 10-15 years ago. I believe some of the speaker posts still remain to this day.

Is the caption under the picture about its closing in 1969 100% accurate? I could have sworn I saw several movies there after that date including Young Frankenstein in 1974.

You’re so right about the odd bookings, Mike. As a 9-year old at the Whitestone, I recall a double-bill of Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid playing along with The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie. Also saw Steve McQueen in The Reivers, sort of a modern, comedic western along with The Go-Between, which was an English romance film.
