Seems to be some confusion about dates and location here. I ran the 4 screen Strongsville Cinema located in the Strongsville Plaza with my spouse from February 2003 until its closure on May 4, 2007. It was originally built as a twin in the early 1980’s and the additional 2 small screens were added in 1993 or 1994. Seating capacity was 300+ in each of the 2 original screens and 88 and 66 seats in the 2 screens added later. We bought the theater from Angelo Gousios who was the plaza owner and had constructed the theater in the central part of his plaza where the 2 legs of the L shape come together. The opening of the new Cinemark 14 theater in the Strongsville Mall on May 5th was the ultimate reason for its demise but the timing was coincidental with the landlord signing a lease for a new tenant which required gutting the theater for a new use. Bounce City (children’s indoor entertainment with inflatables)eventually opened there in 2009 but closed in February 2011. While I haven’t driven by recently I do not believe that the space is being replaced by a service station as the Plaza is very much alive and the central space occupied by the theater would not lend itself to this construction.
