The balcony has been converted into a small theater. Keyword small. Pretty cozy up there but still neat. It is a great theatre in a nice historic neighborhood. Me and my gal went to a movie here last summer.

Great theatre in a fantastic neighborhood. Feels like you have gone back in time going to a movie here. Was here tonight and was only dissapointed that the main theatre was closed for renovations. But, that should be a good thing if they don’t modernize it. I will be back when its done. Best place to see a movie. Thankfully old theatres like this are still here. Beats a giant cineplex anyday!
Exciting new plans just announced to get the Norshor operating and restored. See link:

The theatre is for sale. For only $59,900 you too can own a movie theatre. I was through this town yesterday for work and came across this theatre. Good to see some postings about it. The building on the right is sold. I didnt even notice that it was part of the theatre at some point. Here is the link to the listing: http://www.spencerhomes.biz/houses/500_2/photos.htm
Wow! Real cool picture of the theatre from back in 1985. Just drove through this town today and saw the theatre. Would never have thought it was as old as it is. I wish they would keep these historic theatres the way they were originally. At least it is still operating. Anyone have pics of the inside? Is that all remodeled also?
The building is still here! I have been in this theatre several times. The theatre is in the back of the building and the old curtain still is intact. The theatre had a balcony also. A local theatre group owns the building now and intends to restore it someday. It is a huge building with a ballroom upstairs. One of the front rooms is being used now for local plays and as an artist gallery. See the following for more info: http://lyriccenteronline.org/history.html
The old tri-plex in the Irongate Mall. Remember it well, used to take my girlfriend there alot. Had a Pizza Hut across the hall as well as an arcade. Fun times. New Mann Cinema 8 is in town now with stadium seating.
great photos. Sadly, this theatre is long gone. There was a fire in the building next door as noted in the above pics. I don’t remember the exact details on why the theatre was torn down? Possibly a second fired in the same building’s shell? I enjoyed many movies here as a kid and young adult. An old friend of mine used to work here as an usher. Those were the days when the usher would walk down the long aisles with a flashlight and tell you to get your feet off the seat in front of you. There is a 6 plex in the neighboring town. Compares nothing to these grand old theatres of course.
if you look at the 5th comment from the top on this page, there is a link to a picture of the Granada theatre with the State Theatre accross the street even. I too went to alot of movies at the Granada. It’s too bad it’s gone.

Good news! This theater is newly remodeled and open again at the West Theater showing first run movies, classics and live entertainment.
This theater has re-opened! Completely renovated and just opened 2 days ago! Glad to see an old theater back in business. Can’t wait to check it out.

This theatre is not open. The screen is still there, but it hasn’t shown a movie in years. Unfortunately

The theatre space is occupied by Play It Again Sports
Wow! Boy did someone wreck this theater! What a great looking theater in the 50’s. Why would anyone change it to what it looks like now. What a shame.

It was later operated by Ferris Alexander, the Twin Cities reputed porn king. Was a cool place, too bad it couldn’t have stayed family friendly
theater is still run by CEC Boring multiplex, but still open and showing 3D movies even
Closed as of 1/11/12 Even the new fancy theaters can’t stay open these days
I’m confused. Is the old Rivoli theatre a shopping mall or the Albert Lea Art Center?

Unfortunately there isn’t much left of this theater. The shell is there and thats it. It was completely gutted several years ago.
