This harpsichord was still in the theatre during the 1970s. It had probably seen better days as it was easily accessible to hoards of kids attending matinees on the weekends. I wonder what happened to it?
It was located in the foyer area on the first floor just before the stairs that took you to the dress circle.
Look how good the pattern is in the carpet in the picture.

“The Ritz” will be officially open-

at 8 p.m., by the Mayor of Port Mac-

the most beautiful and spectacular

Evangelos Hatsatouris [1870-1948] was born in Greece and worked a sea captain before immigrating to Australia in the early 1910s. The Hatsatouris family conducted the White Rose cafe, later known as the Monterey, and established the Empire Theatre and then the Ritz Theatre and other theatres across NSW. His sons Peter and George were involved in the theatre businesses.
Unfortunately this fantastic Art Deco cinema ‘The Ritz’ has been totally wrecked and hardly recognisable from it’s original self.

I found some interesting Interior pics via the Port Macquarie Historical society archives.

Looks like a joy ride at an amusement park! Fantastic
Hi all, would be fantastic to see photos of the Valhalla session posters here, also anything of the Craven cafe to the left of the entrance.
At least they did a good job when they twinned it. Quite a thoughtful remodel.
Pity she is not still with us in this format. RIP
