This theater is still standing in a deserted shopping center in Kenner. At one time a Gym was supposed to open there but that was before Katrina hit. I haven’t heard anything since. I saw “Malcolm X” and Forrest Gump there. At one time it was a nice little theater.

Sorry this is such a bad photo. The marquee says “Pulp Fiction” so this is definately from the 90’s.

I worked at the Panorama theater in 1990 as a ticket taker. By that time the theater was run down. This was the summer that the first run theaters stopped selling their movies to the “Dollar Theaters” thereby effectively putting them out of business. I remember seeing so many movies there. “Grease”, “It’s Alive”, “Roller Coaster”, “Phantom of the Paradise”. It was sad to see it’s decline before they closed down for good. The last movie I saw there was “People Under The Stairs”.

I grew up going to this theater throughout my child hood (70’s-80’s), and into college (90’s). We used to run across the interstate, cross the drainage pipe over the canal to get there (Crazy)! This was the time when the ticket taker used to guard the door making it a challenge to sneak into R-rated movies. Also, I remember you had to walk up the stairs to the second floor to go use the bathroom. Man I miss that place! Fun times!!!

Hey, ya’ll. I came upon this site b/c I was remeniscing about the good ole days growing up in Kenner/Metairie way back in the 70’s and 80’s. I posted a couple of pics for ya’ll to enjoy. I saw so many movies back then, my most memorable was Rocky I and Carrie at Lakeside theater #1.
