This theater has a new Imax screen now. Has anyone tried it yet? I saw two movies on it so far. It’s pretty nice. Big screen and great sound. It’s on one of the screens by the main concession stand, so it’s in one of their biggest rooms.

Sounds exciting. That will be nice to have stadium seating for all the screens. Hope the plan goes through. Elk Grove is such a nice theater, and everytime it expands, it keeps getting better.

Hi c0lorme. I’m still here. I haven’t posted in a while, but I check back every now and then for new posts. I can relate to all those things. That slot car racing place at Barrington Square was awesome! I went there for a birthday party one time. One Schaumburg Place was so nice, who would have thought back then that it would one day be turned into an outdoor mall. It’s amazing how popular it is. I guess people like the urban feel. You never know with these things. We might know each other. That would be so weird. I still miss it though. I’m 19 right now, grew up in Schaumburg and still live here. I went to Hoover Elementary, Keller Junior High, and Schaumburg High School. Even if I don’t personally know you, I’ll bet we’ve run into each other at some point. I’ve been to so many places around here. Glad I logged onto the site so you wouldn’t be waiting too long for a response.

They’re really working hard lately on this new theater. When I go to Stratford, you can see the guys working on it. The roof of the theater goes even higher than the roof of the mall, so we should get some pretty nice sized screens.

I’ve been to the One Schaumburg Place theater at least once. I saw the movie Mouse Trap there. I was pretty young back then so I don’t remember too much about the theater. I do remember more about the mall even though I was only 6 or 7 when it closed and was redeveloped into Streets of Woodfield. I walked around there a lot and visited the stores with my mom. I have some good memories about the mall. You had to walk through the food court to get to the theater. I’m pretty sure that most of the building where Carson Pirie Scott is now if not the the whole building is still the original building that was the theater. I know that a lot of the back end of Streets of Woodfield looks and is exactly the same as before the change. They have the same bricks and loading docks. If anyone knows more about the mall building or the theater I would greatly appriciate it. I’ve done a lot of searching on the web but have pretty much found all the information that’s out there.

The site looks really good now that you did a redesign. I look forward to the coverage of what is to happen when the construction begins.

I’m not sure when that feature will be online, but you could always post a link.

I’ve never been to the theater before since I’m sure it closed before I was born. My Mom told me about it a while ago. I live very close by to it. I hope you can get a link to those pictures. I would find them interesting. Hanover Park Kid has some pictures to post of Tradwinds Theater but was wondering when a picture posting feature would show up. I’m not sure when or if, so a link would work fine until then. I hope you can get it.

Wow, that’s a great site BigTomEH. You made it, right? I love knowing the complete history of places. I’m always interested in knowing what has changed and how things work at the theater. The expansion idea is great. It really sounds like they will go through with it. I remember when the Burger King closed. It was kind of sad because we used to eat there before the movie. The staff of Elk Grove Theater would usually put the Kids Meal toy behind the consession stand on Saturdays. It was always neat seeing it there. I would sometimes see employees at the Burger King. I’m glad the land is being put to good use and that the building will not just sit there empty for many years to come like some of the other Burger Kings in the area that closed. I actually had a dream about Elk Grove Theater expanding a year ago. I’d like to know how many new rooms/they plan to put up. The stadium seating sounds good too. More party rooms. I wonder how they’ll configure it. They’ll probably have to break open an outside wall somewhere in order for it to work.

Nice big theater. If it’s not showing here, then you probably can’t see it anywhere. Tad expensive, but they have the best seating. Stadium, and you can’t see the persons head who sits in front of you. The armrests can be lifted up to give you two seats if you need more room or if you want to sit next to someone you love. The armrests are also padded. They had, and maybe still do have digital projectors every once in a while for certain special showings of movies, and I’ve seen a few movies in digital. I wonder if it will ever catch on. This is probably one of the biggest theaters in the world.

I’ve went here a lot too. I was a nice little place with a cheap movie price. The area is sad tho. The Dominics is gone, the Halmark closed, and some other stores. The only things left are a Krispy Kreme, a McDonalds, a Citgo gas station, a dollar store, the library, and a few other little stores. The bad thing was the bathrooms being upstairs. The showtimes during the day were usually empty, and many times my family were the only one in the theater. Don’t know about the other theater, but the movie I was seeing would usually be empty, with only me or a board employee watching the movie. Wonder if a theater will ever open up in it’s place. I wonder.

Great Theater. I highly recomend it. Cheap price and great quality. NO stadium seating tho. Good pop corn and butter and do it your self buttering and drink filling. First theater to allow you to fill your drink up in the area, and maybe the only in the world. One of the people who works there looks like Roger Ebert the film critic. Anyone elso notice that?

Can’t belive they had to demolish it. I had a lot of memories of it when I was younger. I saw at least twenty movies there or more. This used to be such a busy shoping center, but now it’s so empty. At least there is AMC Theaters down the street on Barrington Road. More expensive though.
