About a year after Hurricane Floyd devastated Rocky Mount and eastern North Carolina, Carmike Cinemas renovated and reopened the Cardinal Theatres 3 as a discount theater. The revived Cardinal lasted about one month before closing for good due to Carmike’s impending bankruptcy.
