Originally built as the Park-Seventh Movie House, it became a victim of the collapse of the land boom. By the early 1930s the building was vacant. It would remain unused as a movie or theater until after World War II. It reopened as a movie house in 1949 but would close again soon after. The building would not have a stable tenant until the early 1950s when the Palm Tree Playhouse moved in.
The Palm Tree Playhouse enjoyed a successful run during the 1950s. However, by the early 1960s, the playhouse was getting into financial trouble and closed its doors in 1962.
