My family bought this from the company who started it from Charlotte about 1955. We ran the drive in as a family for a about 4 years. I worked in the snack bar with my twin sisters and brother. My dad ran the business part and managed the team of people working. My mom sold tickets in the outside ticket booth. I have many fond memories of working together making our own hand made French Fries after peeling them, f rom large Idaho potatoes on a French Fry cutter. I also had the job of cleaning up the car parking area for viewing the next day…..ha! not a pretty site! We had beginning movie stars show up to promote a movie some weeks and some of them went on to become well known stars. My dad , after catching sneak ins on bicycles devised a plan where they could come through the ticket line on their bike for a dime or quarter to keep them from trying to get in without permission. It made them happy and made him not have to run them off. ; ) Lots of work, but lots of fun……hot dogs and chili have never tasted the same, as well as popcorn popped fresh in the big vat of oil….great memories of old times.
