Is this theatre under refurbishment at the moment?

The renovations are finished now. I don’t know what the theatre looks like inside now?

Did Arthur Fiedler ever go to this theatre?

Has Arthur Fiedler or John Williams ever conducted in this venue?

I hope this theatre doesn’t meet the same fate as the Gaiety Theatre.

Hi Paul

Do you have any photo’s of the interior of this theatre before it was tragically demolished?

I think this is a stupid question but couldn’t the council have it re-built?

I hope they don’t demolish it but preserve it for the future.

Hi Paul

Have you seen the beautiful St James Theatre in Wellington, New Zealand?? That lovely theatre was built in 1912 and it was designed by Henry White. It’s still around today and it is home to the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company.

This theatre is tragically wasted being used as a nightclub. I hope the Auckland City Council turn it into an Opera House. I think it could rival Wellington’s 1913 Opera House.

Would Carnegie Hall itself make a great cinema?

The cherubs and the ornimental work remind me of the St James Theatre in Wellington, New Zealand. The St James Theatre was built in 1912 and it’s desginer was Henry Eli White here is it’s website http://www.stjames.co.nz/ it’s a lovely theatre. I think the New Victory is lovely too.

This beautiful theatre can seat up-to 700 or more people. It also has great acostics and a large stage behind the screen for an orchestra to use. (Symphony orchestra’s did use this theatre alot in the 1930’s to the 1950’s). This theatre was built in 1929.

All the remining vintage theatres around the Auckland area are all protected heritage buildings. The current mayor Dick Hubbard wants them all to be preserved for future generations.

To Nick

Get in touch with the Historic Places Trust and get them to put a classification / protection notice on it.

They will send you out a form and all you have to do is email it back to them all filled out.

(Place boards up around the doors and openings around the theatre to protect it from further damage).

I think this theatre is situated accross the road from the old State Theatre (which was used as an Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years I understand that is a cinema once again)

I was wondering is my comment correct?
