Visited this cinema for the first time in over 20 years on 20/12/25 to Avatar: Fire and Ash 3D. No curtains were in use which was a shame. Seats were comfortable. Normally I sit in the circle, but as this was a 3D show I decided to sit downstairs for a more immersive experience. I’d experienced Dolby Cinema once before in Florida (USA), but this was my first experience of Dolby Cinena 3D. Up until now I’d say IMAX 3D was the only way to see a 3D film, but I have to say, this was impressive. Dolby Vision, 4K, HRF in scope looked amazing! Image was so bright and when the screen went black the whole cinema went dark. Sound was good, but due to the size of the Odeon, it can never be impressive as some modern theatres, however it still sounded good. Have to all say the staff were happy and friendly.
Omnipresent have announced reopening of the cinema next year, following works to upgrade the cinema. https://www.whatsonglasgow.co.uk/news/2025/10/27/omniplex-cinema-group-acquires-iconic-renfrew-street-cinema/?fbclid=IwZnRzaANsqSlleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHvjLPHVtGzOqBAjv8QEDZyQPjhStC6-FwchSplnEvv2FasFBy14J-9Co8Hqu_aem_mYniYFMa48E6Hj6AI6Dodw
@PhillipWw the cinema is open, but the main entrance is closed due to an issue with the windows above (one has smashed) and so you have to enter via another door upstairs. You are correct that they do not do any advertising for what they are showing externally. It really is one of the most boring entrances to a cinema I have seen.
Visited this cinema today to watch Sonic 3. First time I have seen a film here in over 23 years. Back then it was a Canon Cinena and was quite a flea pit. It’s now more stylish and upmarket. The original screens 1 and 2 are still very small. I watched Sonic in the newer ‘Premier’ screen, nice manually reclining seats, sight lines. The 4K projector gave an excellent image, sound was less noticeable. The screen is of average size, it does have curtains, but sadly these were not used.

The D-box screens have now been replaced with luxury screens with 24 VIP recycling seats. Picture of new screen and seating added to photo section.
