Ken – I recently found that my mystery building (in my posts above) was constructed in 1914. Do you have any archival info for that time frame?

Dublinboyo, you said it! I’m a long-time Pasadena resident, it’s 4:30 in the morning, I’m depressed, and going to bed.

The last time I ventured into the State was in 1982 when I viewed “Dance Craze”, a concert film, a couple times at least. Interestingly the prints for that movie have all been lost.

I remember walking the few blocks up Hudson, when Pasadena was still relatively dark at night.

Ken—

Do you or any others here, have a listing for L.A. theaters in 1920? In researching a venue in Silver Lake at 3037 Sunset Blvd (an ‘80s nightclub that I and others were fond of), it dawned upon me that it was probably once a theater; sure enough, I found a reference to the address being somehow related to silent films, in a 1920 census. I wonder if this is one of those L.A. “mystery theaters”. Recently it’s been gutted for retail space but the ancient facade is still there.

I have a couple photos too.

Joe, do you recall seeing a burlesque theater on Main called the “Galway”?

While viewing a bizarre film compilation on video, I glimpsed the theater and was able to identify it as The Follies from this site.

The film short was made in 1963 or ‘64 and the Follies clearly was a strip venue by that time, with “VIV VIDD/JULIE CAESAR/I WANT TO STRIP” on the marquee.

I stumbled across this site while searching for info on the old Pasadena theaters. Also, it just so happens that the other day I was driving down Colorado trying in vain to remember which trendy outlet used to be the Salvation Army! a

I live within walking distance from Old Town and the old Fox, so I’ll amble over and take a look-see.

I grew up in Pasadena (1964-1987) and recently moved back; I too am sickened by certain things.

By the way, those old houses
