This cinema was rebranded as the Belmont Filmhouse – a sister to the Edinburgh Filmhouse – after being sold to Centre for the Moving Image in April 2014, as Cineworld’s purchase of Picturehouse created limited competition in the area.
The ruins of this cinema were shot before its demolishment by Nikolaus Geyrhalter for his 2016 documentary film, Homo Sapiens. Screenshots are available here:

A repertory, smoker-friendly cinema named Cinema Fumée opened here on 5th August 1994 for a year; the last that was heard of it was its role in a Placebo tour in ‘95. This cinema has been closed since late 2012, and was demolished the following year to make way for the Character Theatre and Discovery Studio.

This cinema has been transforming into a Showcase Cinema de Lux since Spring this year. Screen 4 was turned into an IMAX cinema on December 13, 2013.
