Chuck1231, If this had been listed as Cinema 21 I wouldn’t have looked at it and would have wondered why the Washington Theater wasn’t listed. My friends and I used to like that theater because admittance was half the price of the fancier theaters. We saw a lot of movies there that we would not have otherwise been able to see.

Gene Buchanan: sounds like his pre-mature destruction of an historic theater was all for naught. It’s sad, the Raymond was a beautiful theater.

Manwithnoname, Thanks for the memory of Canterbury records. I haven’t lived in Ca. since 1968, before the freeway.

I, too, remember the Oaks as an “Adult” theater. I remember going by one day in 1960 or 1961 and seeing the title movie “Look Ma, no Bra!” playing with “Nudie Cuties”. It was quite scandalous back then, laughable now.

It was a real wonderland behind those curtains.

Ah, yes. Windjammer. Great Cinerama movie. I believe it came out in the early 1960’s and seeing Norway’s fjords made me want to go there. I did, in 1971.

I remember seeing this movie there, plus several other Cinerama movies. You don’t get the same feeling at today’s little theaters and screens.

I remember going to this theater with my parents when it first opened. The last time I went was March 1967. It was a wonderful place. They had a playground with swings, etc. for the kids, many of the real little ones were already in their jammies. Good family fun.
