Thanks Lou for the image. The marquee neon tower at the Grand in Tracy reminds me of the one that was on the front of the Golden State Santa Cruz Theatre in Santa Cruz CA that was removed when they turned the cinema building into other uses. The Santa Cruz Theatre tower was a little nicer then this one. Such a shame they took It down no class! When many former theatres are used for other venues the first thing most do is tear down the classic neon marquee and boxofice. The fronts need to be saved and used again in what is going in the former movie cinema space. The LUX Theatre in downtown Oakland CA had a great neon marquee and when the Goodwill people took the former B movie theatre over they tore out the neon marquee. You can go into the Oakland Goodwill store on Broadway and still tell It was a former movie theatre, you can even still see the projection room portholes. So nice they kept the front at the Grand Theatre in Tracy.
