This is so creepy, the man on the ladder is posting a film that starts on my birthday, 10th August. This was one of my favourite Cinemas. I moved from Balsall Heath (the Luxor, the Triangle Cinema, Moseley Picture House & Alhambra Cinema)to Kingshurst when I was 12 years old so spent my teenage years a short bus ride from the Beaufort Cinema. So many memories.
This should read “this is where Lawrence Wilson took Linda Dugmore on their first date”
Sad to see so many classic cinemas demolished. None of the new ones have the same atmosphere.
I can’t believe the cinema where I cued up with my wife and two children to see ‘Grease’, when if first came out, is now a mosque.?
It’s a shame to see the demise of such theatres of dreams.

I went to the Alhambra a few times but not for the Saturday Matinee. I went to my nearest for that, the Luxor Cinema in Balsall Heath Road. We use to cue around the side and up to the door of the Luxor every Saturday morning. As you say Happy Days.
