I’m surprised nobody mentioned it or that it is not among the theatre listing, but there was another “Paramount Theatre” operated by Cinema 5 (Rugoff), during the early to late 70’s. This later incarnation was located on the corner of 60th St. & Broadway as part of the plaza of the then Gulf and Western Bldg (now Trump International). It had a unique design. The top area was a glass enclosed circular building containing the box office and theatre marquee. After purchasing your ticket, you took an escalator down to a subterranean level which housed the actual theatre and concession stands. I worked there in 1978 before moving over to The Plaza on 58th. Theatre was closed and disappeared while I was living abroad. Came back to see an empty spot where this theatre once stood. Worked many shows but the two that stand out are “Foul Play,” and “Up In Smoke.” I remember the long lines outside of it when “The Exorcist” was playing.

Good day Cptblood & Jay58. I am also an alumni of The Plaza from 1978-80. I do remember Polly (older worman, always made up & Robbie who was the custodian. I’m suprised nobody mentioned Morris, the elderly jewish gent who was the doorman (I always had to lock the door open for him as he couldn’t reach the latch). Also Mike Snyder (Asst Mgr), Lori the cashier with the jealous hubby and who could ever forget (as much as one might try), Ave Jones (it’s Miss Jones to you..). Also met Mr. Rugoff (he hired me) & found out as a kid, he went to the summer camp I used to work at. It was a beautiful looking theatre. it closed up while I was living in Germany. Came back to find an Asian restaurant in it’s place. (Movies I worked: Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe, Who killed the Great Chefs of Europe, Premiere of “The Kids Are Alright,” The Innocent, and countless other foreign & first run films like “The Wiz.”

Like Suthnuh24, I was also part of the Fr-Sat RHPS crowd between ‘78 & 80. Used to do the floor show as Dr. Scott. Good times & great parties afterwards! “..TO THE KITCHEN..!” (INSIDE JOKE)

P.S. also worked at The Plaza theatre on 58th St. during this time so I got to see RH for free on courtesy pass.
