My family and I absolutely loved this drive-in!… I sure do miss it! Those were the good ole days! Unfortunately, kids today do not know what they are missing!
My family and I loved this drive-in and I miss it so much!… I was told by employees there that it was closing because a hardware store “Hechingers” moved next door with their bright lights shining on the movie screen interfering with the viewing of their movies and there was a legal battle going on as to which place was responsible for putting up a fence between the two businesses in which I had believed that “Hechingers” should have been held liable since the drive-in was there first. I also heard that the drive-in was having some problems with patrons who were bringing drugs in on the property and using them. What a terrible shame that wonderful place like this had to go!
Our parents used to take my sister and I to this drive-in, in the early 60s. We absolutely loved it!… Our mother would pack the four of us some nice sandwiches, salads and drinks in the cooler and our dad would back his station wagon up to one of the speakers and open the back of the wagon for us to sit on to watch the movie. During intermission, my sister and I would play on the playground. We loved watching Woody Wood Pecker before the movie began and we loved the intermission cartoon that would come on of the dancing hot dog, popcorn and soda. Wow, do I miss those days that were so wonderful and memorable. It’s a terrible shame, but unfortunately, kids today just don’t know what they are missing. What I wouldn’t give to have those days back again!!!
Wow! This is the Gov. Ritchie Drive-In? Does anyone know what year this was? The land all around it look so barren. Today, all the land in this picture is occupied by stores and restaurants. The changes that took place is astounding!
Wow, the simple things in life we took for granted. I would love to have those days back again!… I deeply cherish those memories!
