Also, Laura Martinez, Mark Jagger, Mark Frey and Esther Fielding, asst. mgr to me.Esther passed away a couple years ago of cancer. Her son was convicted of murdering the wife of a prominent SF attorney’s wife. Gus Frias and Tracey were the janitors…
I left there for 1 year but returned. I was there til 1975. The 99 cent policy was started just before I left.
Mann Theatres tried to transfer me to Tower Theatre in EAST OAKLAND! I refused to go there, but could not stay at the Fox Skyline because Mann had leased it to a independent.
The manager you are thinking of from the Parkside was Jo Ann Brown…she was the mgr of the Skyline before I came there…No, she was not easy to get along with..She disappeard after Mann closed the Parkside.
How I miss those days! I ended up going to work at Sequoia Hospital….there for 19 years before we moved to Reno to open an assisted living facility here. We sold that after being there for 21 years…..Where are you now and what’s going on in your life??? I remember you so well! Still blonde after all these years?
Love those photos! It was a beautiful theatre when I worked there in the early 70’s. Was there for the premier of Towering Inferno……even got my picture took with Natalie Wood and her husband Robert Wagner!

The Fox was a beautiful theatre. I feel very fortunate to have worked there for so many years. Still miss it. Stevenj is very accurate with his memories/descriptions.
Before managing the above mentioned theatres, this same lady was Bill Tannehill’s assistant manager at the FOX THEATRE in Burlingame for many years.During that time my aunt, Ann Campbell was Lou Singer’s assistant at the FOX THEATRE in Redwood City for 12 years.
As I remember, Art Blumenthal’s store only sold TV’s, phonographs, stereos, record albums, and was the best place to find the latest 45 RPM’s. One of my favorite stores…..A really great family.
I was one of two managers for the opening of Towering Inferno. The entire run of this engagement was Box Office open seating.
This theatre is a perfect example of the Souras-ized era. Absolutely beautiful.

Fox Parkside Theatre is in the heart of the Sunset District…..very upper scale area..NOT even anywhere near the Mission District……scary area there!

Wonderful restoration of this old theatre… However, that ugly, huge clock behind the candy counter needs to go.
Name change came shortly after the FOX was closed and torn down. That was in the 60’s. The FOX WARFIELD was not even close to being the original FOX.
This theatre was never operated by National General Theatres/ Fox West Coast. Was opened and operated for many years by Westside Valley Theatres.

According to the Theatre Historical Society, the Fox Richmond opened April 3, 1952. Carl Moeller, Architect. Seating was 1118.
