Was originally called Fox Theatres, opened in the late 70’s, as a 4 screen theater. Attached to the Susquehanna Valley Mall. Fox talked of expanding and even had a sign along route 11 in front of the mall in the late 1980’s saying so but it never happened, was sold went under the name Carmike for a time in the 1990’s before being renovated & expanded.
They had one theater devoted to Dolby surround, if memory serves me right it was theater 4?
I think the last movie I saw here was Star Wars premier in 1977, truth being told after the mall theater (Fox) opened that was it for The Strand. I recall the theater being in disrepair, seats were old and the plaster was falling from the ceiling.
After it closed, the new owners turned it into a concert venue. I think The Plasmatics was the first, say controversial concert. Saw a few acts there up to 1986, at that time it was starting to show disrepair and under the loud concerts, plaster was falling off even more. Sad to say looking back now, it was a shame to see it decline.

Closed in the early to mid 1970’s, was vacant for a few years up to the late 1970’s and was still intact. Eventually all the buildings, ticket booth, projection house/concession and projection screen were demolished. The screen was unique, not the typical open metal structure but a wood framed cement or plaster structure that was occupied by a flock of pigeons as I remember opening a door leading into the stucture after it closed.
I recall the structures (ticket booth & screen),had an art deco theme.
Towards the end, the drive in was showing porn I recall, maybe soft porn?
The land was backfilled and leveled, sat empty for 15 years or so before the land was sold, a Wal-Mart now occupies the site.

Recall The Rialto playing more childrens films towards the end, along with a lot of double features.
