Circa 1980, The Showcase showed double features of classic films, as at the Landmark-owned Shattuck Cinemas in Berkeley. The J Street Cinema mentioned above (called “The Old J”) focused on classic American films of the 1930s and 40s. I saw many films at both theaters. The Showcase once screened a marathon of classic movie trailers, and audience members received a certificate at the end.

I saw a number of films at The Casting Couch. I believe they used a video projector with LaserDiscs as the source. I remember seeing “Brazil” and “Morocco” there. It was a nice little theater, though the picture was not up to the quality of film.
