  • <p>Photograph showing a section of the Ritz Cafe/Restaurant taken prior to the cinema opening in an Art Deco style. Showing the black and chrome entrance doors featuring zig zag glazed panels, trumpet shaped columns the lower bowl having recessed up lighting which illuminated the bowl above. The fibrous plaster ceiling was finished in Dutch metal and lacquered, with walls and columns coated in textured Marb-L-Cote tinted to a Pompeian red and finished with metallic speckles.</p> <p>Ron Knee</p>
  • <h1>The image is of the Melody Theatre previously the Gowerville.</h1> <p>The Gowerville Theatre opened on 7th May 1926. The theatre was updated in May 1930 for “talkies” but closed later that year. It was re-opened in 1938. It was closed in 1949 and following a refurbishment it re-opened in 1951 as the Melody Theatre.
