Godfather 1 & 2 in new restored prints overseen by Coppola are now at the Film Foum, which makes me wonder if the Godfather films will be coming to the Ziegfeld. http://www.filmforum.org/films/godfather.html

And what IS showing at the Ziegfeld now?

The Ziegfeld is completely AWOL on Moviefone.

And on Cleaview Cinemas site, it simply says “Sorry, showtimes are not available for this theater on…” thru January 8, 2009 which is as far as the drop down menu goes.

I see that AlAlvarez has made valuable and interesting comments on other movie theatres in Cinema Treasures, and I do apologize for my unnecessary comments I left on the Ziegfeld page.

You didn’t mention the name of the theatre, the Ziegfeld.

This is a forum about movie theatres.

These off-topic personal attacks clutter up theater comments, making it difficult to find what people are actually looking for â€" information and discussion about classic movie theaters. (They also prevent the people who created and help run this website from working on more important issues.)

Reminder: Keep comments on topic!

Lately, we’ve noticed many Cinema Treasures attacking each other. There are several theater pages where spirited debates about preservation have gotten increasingly personal.

These off-topic personal attacks clutter up theater comments, making it difficult to find what people are actually looking for â€" information and discussion about classic movie theaters. (They also prevent the people who created and help run this website from working on more important issues.)

So, to address this problem, we’d like to remind everyone about our terms of use. If you engage in any of the following actions, we will take appropriate action:

• Posting off-topic comments that taunt or bait other users

• Attacking or otherwise slandering fellow users, preservation officials, or theater managers â€" even if you have a legitimate grievance, this website isn’t the place for it

• Creating duplicate accounts for the purpose of attacking other Cinema Treasures users

• Posting comments that are racist, sexist, homophobic, slanderous, and otherwise against our terms of use.

The first time you violate any of theses rules you will receive a warning. The second time your posting privileges will be suspended for a month. The third time you will be banned from the site.

Please remember why we are all here â€" to discover, to preserve, and to protect. In the spirit of community and preservation, please leave the personal attacks out on the playground, so to speak, where they belong.

Thanks for your help!

Thank you for adding “Zieg”.

You’ve earned your salary from whatever movie company you work publicizing movies/

Who cares? Don’t you have anything better to do? Are you 12?

This is a site about movie theatres.

I’m having trouble reaching the box office. How would someone travel to the Cinemart Cinemas by subway and bus from the 7 train, or any bus subway connection. Decided I had to see Speed Racer on the big screen, even after reading the reviews. I love the Big Screen experience for both large and small films, and if nothing else Speed Racer is a Big Screen sfx movie. Thanks!

I don’t want to embarrass anyone by name, but one of the above posters virtually gave away the secret of what the McGuffin is in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

Please all posters! No spoilers! While this is a site for discussing movie theatres, I am all for discussing those movies we all love so much. I don’t expect anyone going to Cinema Treasures not to already know that Rosebud is a sled, but please refrain from giving away spoilers to current films, especially freshly opened movies.

Besides just being very, very, very, very wrong about 2001, the Daily News review is lazy.

Sure, Kathleen Carroll (anybody know anything about her and her shame?) didn’t like 2001. But it’s not even a good review of a bad film. She doesn’t even summon up the energy to write anything of substance. It’s like a review written by a bored 12 year old of a school production of Hamlet the kid didn’t like. She just glosses over it to the point where I wonder if she even saw it, or maybe someone who didn’t like 2001 gave Kathleen her 20 second review. Not saying everyone has to love 2001 (even if they should), but at least make some points in your review, say something. Just horrible.

I’ve waited all week to see Planet of the Apes, Wednesday 8PM show, at the Ziegfeld. Moviefone on line says it’s playing that day. The Ziegfeld’s box recording says it’s playing March 28th – April 3rd. No interruptions.

Except it’s not. Now that’s it’s Wednesday Moviefone says “Sorry for the inconvenience, showtime information is currently not available for this theater on April 02, 2008. Please try again later.”

The Ziegfeld’s box office recording still says Planet of the Apes is playing thru April 3rd. No interruptions.

Why suddenly spring this? Apparently they did the same last Sunday. This has happened several times before during classic screenings. I’m not saying that they can’t have a screening (or a fashion shoot, or etc). But please make it part of the Moviephone and box office recording calendar so us loyal patrons and fans know what is going on and don’t miss the movie. And put up notices on the doors. Tell US!

Does anyone know a website that lists Bollywood Cinemas across America, web links, movies and showtimes? A Moviefone.com for Bollywood Cinemas? Especially the Eagle Cinema ( 73-07 37th Rd.,73rd St. 718-205-2800, but where’s the website?), but also others across the land. Thanks!

When I moved to Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the Eagle was still standing, and even still had some letters on the marquee. The words seemed to be in Polish (Greenpoint was then and still is a heavily Polish neighborhood even though a lot of wannabe hipsters have been moving in and transforming the neighborhood), but I can’t tell you if it said the title of the last movie or simply “Goodbye”. But that fact that the small marquee still had letters seemed to jib with what long term residents told me, that the Eagle was a working theatre into the 1980’s. Perhaps it had closed at one point, and reopened as a Polish language movie theatre.

It was not replaced by condo’s as speculated above. It was replaced by two different fast food restaurants. The Eagle was on the corner of Manhattan Avenue and Greenpoint Street. The corner became a McDonalds, but surrounding the McDonalds on both sides in a wide “V” shape, and with entrances on either side of it, was a succession of other fast food restaurants. First a Roy Rogers, and then a Burger King that shared space with a Popeye’s Fried Chicken, until the Popeye’s left to be replaced by…a wall in the Burger King.

I always thought that the McDonald’s occupied the body of the former Eagle Theatre, and that the surrounding fast food restaurants occupied the entrance and area behind and to the side of the movie screen.

Here’s an image View link borrowed from poster Warren , whose original posts are listed. Warren , thanks for taking the time to post a photo! Please pardon my borrowing it.

Now I’ve moved to Jackson Heights, Queens, where there is yet another old Eagle Theatre, this one now playing Bollywood films in an Indian neighborhood.
