A 2016 historical marker at the location of the Bruce Opera House in Canastota. The opera house not only hosted live performances but is believed to be the first theater to show movies projected with a Biograph, which was invented in Canastota. The Bruce burned down in 1909 and the Avon Theater was later constructed at the same location.
