Was TV really having such an impact by 1950? The financing , design,construction etc. probably puts the start of the process back into 1946/47. Who knew what was to come? Besides, the Brook had sold out nights into the late ‘60’s.
I worked there while in high school in 1968-69. I remember seeing the Clint Eastwood/Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns, The April Fools with Jack Lemmon and seeing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ( a popular kids movie) more times than any human should endure. I also remember going around the corner to the Marine to see The Sand Pebbles(for free, of course). I also think I remember the mgmt circulating a petition to stop cable tv.
