Any new info on this theater? I’ll be moving a few blocks away from this location and would sure love to see it resurrected for cinematic use.
OMG if you live in the greater Chicago area, you simply MUST attend one of these silents w/ organ accompaniment!!!
The Madison is on the East side of Main St. and the Palace was across from it and down a bit on the West side.
That at this (former) theater, it won’t.
You have no idea … I was able to peek in the front window only to see sunlight shining through big holes in the roof. The interior is totally gutted, there’s not a single feature of it’s former glory left
I also found a ton of photos showing Peoria area Drive-ins … most of the shots are linked.
Patsy, I recently posted several new/old shots of other Peoria theaters like Avon, Warner … check them out when you get a chance.
I can’t say I know of this “Ray Heinz” but it’s a moot point … there’s basically nothing left in Peoria except the main part of the Madison theater.
The building currently on the old Palace site is just a professional/corporate office building … nothing worth a second glance.
Here a shot of the Warner in it’s current state:
Here’s a shot of the Avon in it’s current state:
The roof is giving out and it’s scheduled for demolition any day now.
Here an old shot of the Palace:
