September 14, 1969. Playing here on this date was Francesco Rosi’s 1961 masterpiece “Salvatore Giuliano”. This was the only public RI showing of this movie and without subtitles.

I remember taking my Italian mother to see this. She was a fan of the story of the Sicilian bandit. I’ve read that this was Martin Scorsese’s favorite Italian movie or one of them.
