July 17, 1958 in Redlands Daily Facts. “Rigoletto” was a 1946 Italian-made film version of the Verdi opera. It was directed by Carmine Gallone and featured Tito Gobbi in the title role. Mario Filippeschi was the Duke of Mantua, Marcella Govoni played Gilda but her singing voice was Lina Pagliughi. The film can be seen complete on YouTube.
