The newspaper photograph of the fire damaged Empress. It has Burnley architect William Heap’s signature detail of galleries either side of the screen, one of which was for the orchestra in the days of the silents.
The photo shows clearly the “circular” design of the balcony by G Keighley for the enlarging of Heap’s original in 1919/20/
