Really? I did not know he went to Uni. I do know he came from the neighborhood where I lived until 16, Baldwin Hills. I read he discovered movies at the Baldwin theater like I did although I think he is a few years older than I am. Although I have never met Danny we have several mutual contacts.
There was also a Japanese restaurant on the SW corner – OSO. There were not many Japanese restaurants on the west side in those days. I knew the daughter of the owner.
I feel nostalgic and melancholy every time I drive past The Loyola. It was a great theatre that played a highly eclectic array of movies. It was on of the many revival houses in the Los Angeles Area. The medical building put in its place looks rather run down. Since the theatre facade is still in place, I have a dream that someday the theatre will be rebuilt. One can dream, right?
Eraserhead played ther for years i recall. I recall seeing The Elephant Man in Westwood Village then driving to The Nuart to see Eraserhead for the fifth time. It was a great movie night.
My earliest theatre going experiences were at the Baldwin Theatre in the early and mid-sixties. I have vague memories of the interior but specifically remember a smoking room located in the back of the theatre. I have never encountered such a room in a theatre again. My most vivid memory of the theatre was seeing Doctor Strangelove during free summer screenings they used to do for the kids in the area.

My bad, I forgot about the drive-in.

I remember seeing Midway in Sense-O-round at The Picwick. It was a nice theatre.

I remember seeing A Clockwork Orange there. It was a very cool place to see a movie.
