View of the ticket lobby under construction. The original terrazzo lip, or base, of the box office can be seen protruding above the plywood panels which cover the original terrazzo entrance floor, which emerged from the fire unscathed. Since I had contributed several photos of the pre-fire theatre to the rebuilding effort, I was invited to sign my name on one of the structural doorposts shown in this photo. I also added, “‘I think that I shall never see a poem lovelier than a lit marquee.’ Theatre Historical Society of America.” This writing is hidden, of course, by the mahogany trim which frames the replicated doors, but it’s fun to know that the inscription will remain there for many years to come.
