Vandalia, IL has a new 4 screen FIRST RUN CINEMA getting built very soon which will effect the availability of film for the older LIBERTY THEATRE. Consequently, the price and value of that building
is now considerably less than the current owner has offered.
With a major lack of film – the venues chances of survival are almost non-existant. I would recommend a sale of $25,000 tops for
this older house considering whats coming down the street in a few
short months.

A friend of mine said that these seats cannot be the Paramount’s
due to color. I would be very suspicious at this point folks.

a friend of mine told me there will be new condo’s built here on the old site – and the front will remain the same – as of a movie theatre!

The 14 Plex going into Downtown Oxnard CA is the reason the LEASE SIGN dictates “CHURCH USE ONLY!”

Behind the MOONLITE SHOPPING CENTER was the UA REGENCY (which resorted to soft-core porn films) in its last few years to survive.
In addition the UA MOONLITE AUTO MOVIE which was only $1.50 per car load – and it had 1200 stalls! Triple Features packed the place!
The CINEMA 150 could not get many first run films as they were cleared by then CENTURY DOMES ON WINCHESTER BLVD. Now – when AMC
MERCADO opened – CENTURY could NOT STOP THE INEVITABLE and AMC got
to play day and date with CENTURY while the poor 150 died a bleak
death due to SYUFY’S OUTRAGEOUS CLEARANCES!

Yes, Camera 3 will be back! It’s true!
But someone told me it will be EXCUSIVE INDIAN FILM-FARE -
not really what I envisioned.

Does anyone know who to contact regarding this theater?
I have a movie theater owner who would love to reopen
the house.

This theater has potential but needs alot of work.
I recently saw a film there and it smelled badly.
The neighborhood leaves little to be desired and there is no
safe place to park one’s automobile. I think there’s a reason
why the poor owner has no money to pay his bills. Cake sales
and the like don’t support an ongoing movie theater – patrons
need to buy tickets and lots of them. Maybe someone can buy
the property? Then it would be worth an investors time, trouble
and money to save the old ‘once porn’ theatre.

Don’t you folks know that CENTURY THEATRES owns the shopping center that their old Pleasant Hill domes reside? Surprise! Surprise!
They are putting indies out of business all over the United States.
The Justice Dept is in the process of investigating them now.
Its true! Do a google search and see all the articles ranging from
Sacramento, San Jose down to Palm Springs!

This theater was an experience to say the least!
Can’t remember what we saw – but we enjoyed ourselves.
Rear Projection was not as clear as regular shot booths but
nevertheless – the movie house was a treat to visit.

For those with interest in starting up a movie theater – here’s a book on AMAZON.COM that I highly recommend …
THE MOVIE BUSINESS BOOK (Second Edition) As told by Michael Medavoy,
David Puttnam, Mel Brooks, William Goldman, Sydney Polack and Lee Rosenberg. Covers all angles from Film Production, Distribution
and EXHIBITION! Read it and then decide if you have tha ability
to pursue.

FoxFan commented about Coronet Theatre Will Close On Feb 10th on Feb 26, 2005 at 2:56 pm

THE GOLDMAN INSTITUTE HAS LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY TO SPEND AND THEY DIDN’T BUY THE BUILDING TO SIT ON IT AND LOSE MONEY. THIS IS SO SAD. THE CORONET SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN SOLD TO THESE PEOPLE. IT WILL GO DOWN and MONEY TALKS IN SAN FRANCISCO. FACT. IS SOMEONE TRYING TO SAVE THE “HARDING THEATRE” in SAN FRANCISCO – THAT ONE TOO IS ON
THE WAY TO CONDOMINIUMS I HEARD. YOU CAN THANK REGAL CINEMAS FOR SELLING THE CORONET – THEY HAVE ONLY ONE THING IN MIND –> $$$$
