Midway Theatre 721 E. State Street, Rockford, IL

bigsignhunter writes - The Midway Theater opened in Rockford IL in 1918. It had 2,000 seats and a Moller pipe organ. It reportedly showcased vaudeville acts during its early years as well as being a popular movie house. In later years, it was used as a live music venue before closing around 2006.

It has since fallen into disrepair and city officials consider the theater a blight on Rockford’s downtown. While some would like to see it restored, there is also talk of tearing it down.
