VIRGIL THE MAGICIAN - aka - Virgil Harris Mulkey (1900–1989) was an American stage magician who toured extensively in the mid-20th century with a large-scale illusion show.
He performed with his wife and partner, Julie, who was known as the “Sweetheart of Magic”. Their act included original illusions such as the “Canary in Lightbulb” and the “Spirit Cabinet,” along with classic tricks like sawing a woman in half.
Global Tours: They embarked on a five-year world tour in 1952 which included Australia, (in short) playing the Capitol theatre in Perth and the Princess in Melbourne, along with the Plaza Northcote in 1953 which ended up playing two seasons to sell out crowds. After Australia they continued performing across North America until their retirement in 1978.
