Ada Buttner writes - The Victory Theatre on George Street in Sydney was initially converted into the Rapallo Theatre in 1966, and later demolished along with the neighboring Paramount cinema in 1984 to make way for a Greater Union multiplex.

The Victory Theatre was a cinema that underwent several name changes throughout its history, including being known as the Avon and Mecca. It was eventually replaced by modern multiplex cinemas, a common fate for many of Sydney’s single-screen theatres.
