Roleystone Panoramic Drive-In Theatre

The photo shows Colin Hatfield building a drive-in theatre in Roleystone in 1957, on site of the old Roleystone Store.

The screen was 9.1m wide and sound was provided by a multicellular horn before having individual speakers installed. The theatre screened all the latest films from Hollywood and was well patronised, hosting over 1,000 people on Saturday nights.
