The West Australian (Perth, WA) Sat 27 Nov 1937 Page 8 reports -

The New Broadway Theatre, Victoria Park to be re-furbished - Major renovation.

The architect (Mr. W. G. Bennett) accepted the tender of Messrs. Totterdell Bros., amounting to £3,523, for the remodeling of the Broadway Theatre at the corner of Albany-road and Harper-street. Victoria Park, for Victoria Park Theatres. The dress circle and the stalls will be regraded and enlarged and a new circle foyer built. The roof will be raised so that the height of the ceiling can be increased by 8ft. The ceiling itself will consist of sound absorbent material of a decorative type, the appearance of which will be enhanced by modern lighting effects. The theatre will be re-seated and refurnished throughout, providing more room and comfort than hitherto.

CRYING ROOM - Another improvement will be a sound proof crying room for children, who will be able to see and hear the program. This will be situated under the main landing of the dress circle, it will be fitted with plate glass windows, giving a view of the cinema screen and provided with a loud speaker to relay speech, music, and sound effects. The front of the theatre will be treated on modern lines to harmonize with the interior. The improvements are expected to be completed by the end of February for the opening on Wed March 16, 1938. - Contributed by Greg Lynch -
