Because of flooding The Capitol Theatre, Alice Springs must discontinue the 1932 serial "The Lost Special"

HEADLINES - Alice Springs has been threatened with a shortage of talkie films..IT’S STILL RAINING AT ALICE SPRINGS - The Finke River Highest In Memory THE TRAIN MAY BE STRANDED FOR SIX WEEKS ! Source - The Advertiser (Adelaide SA Tue, 3 Mar 1936) The floods are concerning happy-go-lucky Central Australia. One is that Tennant Creek has been without beer for eight days, and the other, Alice Springs has been threatened with a shortage of talkie films. Mr. L. Kenna, manager of “The Capitol Cinema”, said today that, although he would be able to screen silent films, yet, somewhat appropriately owing to the non-arrival of the train, they would have to sadly discontinue the serial “The Lost Special. "The Lost Special” was a popular (1932) “Universal Pictures” Serial, which boasted of 12 CHAPTERS OF TERRIFIC THRILLS & MYSTERY - starred Frank Albertson & Cecilia Parker. Sad times in Alice Springs -
