My father Dennis owned this theatre in the late 1960’s on. There were old movie flyers in the basement, and an old upright piano was still there up till the 2000’s. Inside we have photos of the old tapestrries, neon fixtures, and art deco arches/columns. Many seats were still there in the 80’s- old dark maroon velvet cushioned semi-recliners. I urged him to refurbish it as a movie theatre, liquor licence and all as his diner was next door. Sadly he didn’t listen, despite being a former general contractor. Brings back many memories of exploring the place as a kid, with all the old architecture, projection rooms, and a few hidden passages!

My father Dennis owned the theatre - around 1964- so I had to add this, as it does fit the timeline above. It was an amazing art deco piece inside, with tapestries and neon and very many red/scarlet felt or velvet line seats in disrepair by the 70’s when I was a kid. Movie pamphlets littered some spaces. Still, it could have been restored…

This was my father Denny’s property since around 1964. He passed away in 2008. The interior always fascinated me as a kid. Art Deco 1920-30’s, tapestries on the walls, neon. The projector room. The ticket booths and atrium. There was an old player piano. Tunnels in the basement leading nowhere. The new owner has surely changed it (to storage I believe). I kept urging pop to help me restore it, as a dinner theatre, as he was a master carpenter. Mt Joy would have loved it! Phil
