H and E Balaban was never owned by Paramount as far as I know. Where did you get this information?

our email system is working fine. The list of performances at the Chicago Balaban and Katz theaters is in almost perfect shape.

the material mentioned is part of a huge donation of long lost documents that the Balaban and Katz foundation received earlier this year. It is in the process of being organized and will be released in part as part of the Balaban and Katz television Documentary that is under way.

Mike revest, I have a copy of that book about B and K theater management . Its interesting that yours was from a Canadian library!

Yes Jim I would be very happy to hear about your memories of the usher operations at the Chicago theater in those years. My uncle John was in charge and had his office upstairs. I believe he died in 1955 . Thank you very much!

yes Joanne that would be great. My grand father David managed the uptown theater, the rivera and the north shore for quite a while

I really appreciate your help. and the preservation work your group is involved in.

The youngest of the Balaban brothers,my uncles Harry and Elmer had their offices in the state lake building. Their company was named H and E Balaban. They owned many theatres themselves including the esquire
