Worked at Fulton Theatre in Fulton Kentucky 1967-1978. After our show ended, we would drive to Martin to the Varsity Theatre to hopefully catch the ending of their feature and then head to Tony’s Pizza to wrap up the night with the best pizza in town.
Beautiful, well kept Theatre with top notch staff. Those were the days!
It was the Sunset. I don’t know who owns the property but you may check with the Martin chamber of commerce. The Drive In on the Fulton-Union City highway was the Starlite. It is now a Church property. The screen is still standing and looks to be in good shape. I worked at the Fulton Theatre in Fulton, Kentucky until its closing in 1978. Many fond memories of all the movie outlets from back in the day.
I spoke to a friendly employee of the Robey Theatre tonight and was impressed with the time she took to discuss its history and latest improvements. Being a former assistant manager of a single screen theatre, I realize the dedication it takes to maintain an old-fashioned movie house in this age of plastic high-tech. Thank you for keeping the spirit of simple movie-going alive and well in your community.
Beautiful venue! Thanks to Little Caesars Pizza for saving such an important landmark. I have never been to Detroit but have great respect for the residents of the Motor City and this is a true example that great strides can be made to better such a symbolic city. GO TIGERS!
Please keep me posted on your research efforts. This is great information and much appreciated. The Theater was owned by Malco (out of Memphis) when I worked there from 1967 until its closing in 1978. The same building housed The Jewel Box on the east side and Rice Insurance on the west. Also, I would like to get copies of the pictures you have to add to my collection.
ballen270…Thanks for the heads up on the last picture that played at the Fulton Theatre. I worked that night
but my memory went south on what was showing. I do remember that all the employees dressed up for the occasion and after the curtain came down on that memorable night, we left the theatre together in what was considered to be a “class act” departure for the final night at the Fulton Theatre.
I worked at the Fulton Theatre from 1967 until its closing in 1978. Lewis “Nubbin” Bizzle was the manager and I served as assistant manager and doorman. If my memory serves me correct, the final showing was a repeat performance of “The Last Picture Show”. The Fulton Theatre was demolished in the early 2000’s and many marquee memories were removed from the Twin-Cities of Fulton, KY and South Fulton, TN. If you have comments or pictures of the Fulton Theatre that you would like to share, you may email me at .

Great trip down memory lane. It’s always good to go back home again if only for 10 minutes. Thanks for the flashback!
