  • <p>There have been so many great historic newspaper clippings uploaded here that I was a little surprised to be the first with the Tiffin’s Grand Opening ad in the Fremont News-Messenger. This is from the June 11, 1949 issue, and I couldn’t find any Tiffin Drive-In ads before then.</p>

Its arrival in 1956 seemed a huge step for moviegoers in Hobart, despite the existence of many picture theatres at the time.</p> <p>His Majesty’s theatre, the Prince, the Strand (Odeon), the Avalon and suburban locations in Moonah and Glenorchy (Melrose) were all available, among others, but for sheer excitement for kids, the drive-in was tops.
