Chatswood Kings Theatre
The Chatswood Kings closed with a Columbia double feature of “The Boat” and “Absence of Malice” on Thursday 24 March 1983. Demolition commenced immediately and by the following Monday the site was clear. It was last of the Kings circuit to survive in operation. (The Mosman Kings had been taken over by Village and renamed Classic). Twelve months later the Manly Odeon also shuttered, bringing to an end the post war era of Greater Union’s Sydney Odeon/Kings(/Metro) suburban circuit.
